When “scientific evidence” is cited by politicians, it is rarely done with any attempt to fairly present opposing views. A scientifically unsophisticated public then might listen to the side that was shouting the loudest or to the side best representing their economic interests. A scientifically unsophisticated public might even be swayed by the views of well-known celebrities or performers… Well, no, that’s preposterous isn’t it? Nobody would be that simple. What was I thinking?
